Meet our Newest Water Ambassador Collins Kim
Hometown: Charlotte, NC
Swim team: SwimMAC Carolina
Collins is not your average 12 year old. She is an extremely accomplished competitive swimmer having already received numerous swimming awards, while continuously receiving high academic marks and accolades from her teachers and mentors.
Despite all this, she maintains a humble spirit and down to earth demeanor. These qualities are universally recognized by her family, coaches, teachers, team mates and fellow students. Her family reinforces these attributes by teaching that our skills, talents, and faith should be used to serve and help others.
Collins and her family were incredibly moved when they saw the plight of people living without water in Africa. Collins seized upon the opportunity to make a positive change in the lives of others by raising funds to install a well in Mnhumbulu Village in Tanzania. Through this overwhelming act of kindness, Collins is inspiring generosity and bringing blessings to all.
A word from Collins
Hi! I am Collins Kim and I'm really happy that you are willing to help so many people that are having a hard time finding clean water. The only way people in Mnhumbulu can get water is by digging holes in the sand or by traveling very long distances to find a stream or river. And even then the water is not clean.
But there is a solution! Wells for drinking water! We can raise enough money to drill and build a clean water well with a solar powered pump. The well brings clean running water which is distributed throughout the village for over 3000 people! If we all pitch in, we can help so many lives and you can know you made a difference.
For swimmers such as my teammates and I, we swim in clean water everyday, and I think we take that for granted most of the time. So I'm hoping that we can help all the men, women and kids in the village of Mnhumbulu, Tanzania and be more grateful for the little blessings.
