Ten steps to clean, running water for life.

How it works

Relate Water’s on-the-ground implementation partner is Innovation: Africa, South Africa - a globally renowned non-profit organisation that brings solar, water and agricultural technologies to rural South African villages. Since 2018, They have delivered clean water access to over 700,000 people across the country.

Our Impact

We exist to ensure that every single South African village in need of clean, running water gets it.

But clean, running water is just the start. Imagine the opportunities this will create for women who no longer have to spend hours each day searching for water. For children who no longer have to miss school. For people no longer plagued by avoidable illnesses.

The ripple effect of water unlocks untapped potential and prosperity for these villages and their people: a true multiplier effect of opportunity and hope.

A diagram titled 'Our Ripple Effect' with concentric circles emphasizing the impact of water management. The outer circle highlights the economy, stating 'More free time means women can work. Drip irrigation leads to more food security.' The inner circle mentions 'Healing, learning, childhood,' and the central circle focuses on 'Healthy, clean water for all.'

A one-time cost of R1.7 million to bring clean water to an entire village of more than 3,000 people.

The process takes roughly 4 to 6 months from the date clean underground water is sourced.

A team of locals is hired and trained to help install and look after the water system investment.

Our latest project

On the 12th of June 2024, Relate Water opened 14 taps in the Nomu Wa Huku village.

Our implementation partner Innovation: Africa, South Africa installed solar-powered water pumps throughout the village. 4,000 people now have access to safe, readily available water and all its transformative ripple effects to the entire community.
